Community Guidelines
Pakistani Room is built on respect, safety, and genuine connection. These guidelines exist to protect every person in every room — please read them before joining.
A Safe Space for Every Pakistani
Pakistani Room exists to give every person in Pakistan — and Pakistanis living abroad — a free, open, and genuinely welcoming place to connect online. We serve users from Karachi to Gilgit, Lahore to London, Islamabad to Toronto. Our community includes students, professionals, elders, and members of Pakistan's diverse ethnic, linguistic, and regional communities.
That diversity is our strength. But it also means we have a responsibility: to ensure that every person who enters one of our chat rooms feels respected and protected. These community guidelines are not a legal formality — they are the foundation of how Pakistani Room works.
These rules apply equally to all users, in all rooms, regardless of language (Urdu, Roman Urdu, or English), city room, or how long you have been part of the community. There are no exceptions for regular users, long-time members, or guests. Every person who joins Pakistani Room agrees to these standards.
Our moderation team reviews reports around the clock. If you see something that violates these guidelines, report it immediately — either to a moderator present in the room or via our contact page. You do not need to handle violations yourself. Our team will respond.
Pakistani Room Community Standards
Six core areas that govern every interaction on our platform.
1. Respectful Conduct
How we expect every user to treat every other user, at all times.
- Treat every user with basic dignity. Disagreements are normal; personal attacks are not. You may debate, argue, and challenge ideas — you may never attack a person's character, appearance, or background.
- No harassment of any kind. This includes repeated unwanted messages, following a user between rooms, sending aggressive private messages, or any sustained attempt to intimidate, humiliate, or distress another person.
- No hate speech. Content that demeans or threatens people based on religion (including all Islamic sects), ethnicity (Punjabi, Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtun, Hazara, and all others), gender, disability, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.
- No sectarian abuse. Pakistan's sectarian divisions have caused real harm. Pakistani Room will not be a venue for sectarian insults, accusations, or incitement. This applies to all Islamic sects and to all religious communities in Pakistan.
- No gender-based harassment. Women and gender minorities in our chat rooms are entitled to the same respect as anyone else. Unsolicited sexual comments, demands, or pressure of any kind directed at any user is harassment and will result in an immediate ban.
- No threats. Any message that can reasonably be interpreted as a threat of physical harm, doxxing, or other serious harm toward any user will result in an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, may be reported to relevant authorities.
2. Privacy & Personal Information
Protecting your information and the information of others.
- You are never required to share personal information. Our rooms are designed for anonymous chat. Your nickname is all you need. Do not feel pressure from any user to reveal your real name, location, phone number, or social media accounts.
- Sharing your own information is your choice and your risk. If you choose to share personal contact details, you do so entirely at your own risk. Pakistani Room is not responsible for any consequences of contact or communication that occurs off our platform.
- Doxxing is a permanent-ban offence. Sharing another user's real name, location, phone number, home address, workplace, photograph, or any other private information without their explicit consent — whether discovered inside or outside the chat — will result in an immediate and permanent ban.
- Do not share another person's photographs without consent. Posting images of any identifiable person without their clear permission, including screenshots of private conversations, is prohibited.
- Report suspicious requests immediately. If any user asks you for your CNIC number, bank details, password, or any sensitive personal or financial information, report them immediately. This is a known pattern in online fraud and scams.
- Pakistani Room collects minimal data. We do not require registration. We do not store chat logs linked to personal identities. See our Privacy Policy for full details of how we handle data.
3. Prohibited Content
Content that is never acceptable on Pakistani Room, under any circumstances.
- Sexual or explicit content of any kind — including text descriptions, links, or references to sexual material. Pakistani Room is not an adult platform.
- Any content involving minors in a sexual context — this includes text, links, images, or discussion. This will be reported to relevant authorities in addition to a permanent ban.
- Content that incites violence — including calls to harm individuals, communities, ethnic groups, or religious groups.
- Terrorism-related content — including glorification, promotion, or recruitment for any terrorist organisation, militant group, or violent extremist ideology.
- Content that is illegal under Pakistani law — including content violating the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA 2016) and related regulations.
- Sharing malware, phishing links, or fraudulent schemes — any link designed to steal user data, install malicious software, or defraud users.
- Graphic violent content — images, videos, or descriptions of graphic violence, gore, or torture shared for shock value or intimidation.
- Impersonation — pretending to be another real person, public figure, government official, or Pakistani Room staff member.
4. Spam & Commercial Activity
Keeping our rooms free from unsolicited promotion and disruption.
- No advertising or commercial promotion. Pakistani Room chat rooms are not a marketplace. Advertising products, services, businesses, or websites — paid or unpaid — is not permitted in any room.
- No spam. Sending the same message or similar messages repeatedly, flooding the chat with text, or using bots or automated tools to post is prohibited.
- No referral or MLM schemes. Sharing referral links, multi-level marketing schemes, investment schemes, or any content designed to recruit users into financial schemes is prohibited.
- No repetitive flooding. Sending long strings of characters, excessive punctuation, repeated emojis, or any message pattern that disrupts the normal flow of conversation for other users is not allowed.
- No unsolicited contact for commercial purposes. Using private messaging within our platform to send commercial solicitations to users who have not requested them is a violation of these guidelines.
- Sharing relevant links is generally acceptable — if a link is genuinely useful to an ongoing conversation (a news article, a relevant resource), it is generally fine. Moderators use reasonable judgment. Repeated link-dropping regardless of context will be treated as spam.
5. Language & Communication Standards
How we communicate — in Urdu, Roman Urdu, English, or any other language.
- All languages are welcome. Urdu, Roman Urdu, English, Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto, Balochi, and any other language you are comfortable in is permitted. Pakistani Room does not impose a single-language policy.
- Excessive profanity is discouraged. Casual language is normal. Sustained, aggressive, or targeted use of profanity — especially when directed at another user — crosses into harassment territory and will be treated accordingly.
- Slurs are prohibited. Ethnic slurs, religious slurs, and slurs targeting any community within Pakistan are never acceptable regardless of language or context. This includes slurs used "jokingly."
- Do not deliberately provoke. Posting content whose primary purpose is to anger, upset, or provoke other users — commonly called "trolling" — is a violation of these guidelines even if no specific rule is technically broken.
- Sarcasm and humour must be clearly intended. Pakistani chat culture has a rich tradition of banter and wit. However, what reads as joking in one context may read as genuine hostility in another. If your intent is humour, make it clear. If a moderator determines your content is causing harm, the intent claim will not override the outcome.
6. Moderation, Reporting & Appeals
How our moderation system works and what to do if you believe an action was unfair.
- Moderators have final authority inside the rooms. If a moderator instructs you to stop a behaviour, you must comply immediately. Arguing with, abusing, or threatening a moderator is itself a violation that will result in a ban.
- How to report a user: Speak directly to an active moderator inside the chat room, or use our contact page to submit a detailed report. Include as much context as possible — the nickname of the offending user, the room it occurred in, and what was said.
- All reports are handled by humans. Pakistani Room does not use automated moderation systems to take action on user reports. Every report is reviewed by a human moderator.
- False reports are themselves a violation. Deliberately reporting a user you know has not violated guidelines — for example, to get someone removed out of personal dislike — is a misuse of the reporting system and may result in action against the reporting user.
- Appeals: If you believe a moderation action against you was unfair, you may appeal by contacting us via our contact page. State your case clearly and calmly. Appeals are reviewed within 48 hours. Permanent bans issued for zero-tolerance violations (see Rule 3) are not subject to appeal.
- Moderator identity is protected. Do not attempt to identify, expose, or harass individuals you believe to be Pakistani Room moderators. Moderators are entitled to operate without fear of retaliation.
What Happens When Rules Are Broken
Our moderation team applies a consistent, proportionate response to every violation.
| Violation Type | Examples | Typical Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Minor — First Offence | Mild profanity directed at another user, borderline spam, accidental rule-breaking | Verbal warning from moderator. No further action if behaviour stops immediately. |
| Minor — Repeated | Continued behaviour after warning, low-level trolling, repeated flooding | Temporary suspension from the specific room (1–24 hours depending on severity). |
| Moderate Violation | Harassment of another user, targeted hate speech, first-time spam campaign, impersonation | Temporary ban from all Pakistani Room rooms (24 hours to 7 days). Warning issued. |
| Severe Violation | Sustained harassment campaign, doxxing, serious threats, repeated moderate violations | Permanent ban from all Pakistani Room rooms. No appeal for doxxing or threats. |
| Zero-Tolerance Violation | Sexual content, content involving minors, terrorism glorification, sharing malware, illegal content under PECA 2016 | Immediate permanent ban. No warning. No appeal. May be reported to Pakistani authorities. |
Your Responsibilities as a Community Member
Pakistani Room's quality depends not just on our moderation team but on every person who joins.
Active moderation catches a great deal — but it cannot catch everything, in every room, at every moment. The single most effective way to maintain a healthy chat community is for users themselves to understand and uphold these standards. When you enter a Pakistani Room chat room, you are not just a visitor — you are a part of the community.
Use the report function, not retaliation
If another user violates these guidelines, the correct response is to report them — not to respond in kind. Retaliating against a rule-breaking user by breaking rules yourself does not help. It creates more disruption and may result in action being taken against you as well. Report the behaviour, let the moderators handle it, and continue your conversation.
Look out for newer and vulnerable users
Not every user who joins Pakistani Room is familiar with how online chat communities work. Some users — particularly younger adults or those new to the internet — may not recognise harassment, scams, or manipulation when they encounter it. If you see this happening to another user, report it. If you can safely intervene with a brief message of support, consider doing so.
Representing Pakistan's diversity with pride
Pakistani Room brings together people from every corner of Pakistan — every province, every major language group, every sect, every socioeconomic background. The way you engage with people different from yourself reflects on you and on the community. We encourage curiosity, genuine questions, and respect for perspectives and experiences different from your own.
What to do if you feel unsafe
If another user is making you feel unsafe, threatened, or deeply uncomfortable — leave the conversation. You are never obligated to engage with anyone on this platform. Block the user if the option is available to you, report the behaviour using our contact page, and include as much detail as possible. If you believe a real-world threat has been made against you, contact Pakistani law enforcement (dial 15 for police) in addition to reporting to us.
A community is only as healthy as its members allow it to be. Pakistani Room's moderation team enforces the rules — but the culture of respect is something every member creates together.
Personal Safety Tips for Pakistani Room Users
Practical advice for protecting yourself while chatting online in Pakistan.
Keep Your Identity Anonymous
Choose a nickname that does not reveal your real name, city, school, or workplace. You can have genuine conversations without disclosing who you are. Anonymity is a feature, not a problem.
Never Share Financial Information
No legitimate person in a chat room will ever need your bank account number, Easypaisa account, JazzCash PIN, or CNIC number. If anyone asks, they are attempting fraud. Report and leave immediately.
Think Carefully Before Sharing Photos
Once a photograph is shared online, you lose control of it. Be very cautious about sharing personal photos with people you have only met in a chat room, regardless of how long you have spoken to them.
Trust Your Instincts
If a conversation makes you uncomfortable — even if you cannot explain exactly why — trust that feeling. You have no obligation to continue any conversation on Pakistani Room. Leave, block, report.
Talk to Someone You Trust
If something happens online that upsets or worries you, tell a trusted friend, family member, or adult. Online safety is not something you have to manage alone, and there is no shame in asking for help.
Be Careful With Links
Do not click links shared in chat rooms from users you do not know. Links can lead to phishing sites, malware, or inappropriate content. If a link seems too good to be true — a prize, a job offer, a free gift — it is a scam.
